Loss of a Legend – Dr. Scott Viguié
It’s been quiet around these parts of late because over the holiday we received some devastating news. Our family member, Dr. Scott Viguié, passed away unexpectedly.
You would know Scott as Dr. Geek of his tremendous podcast and Science Fair, Dr. Geek’s Laboratory of Applied Geekdom. Or you’d know him as Eli in Continuum Force. Or as an executive producer in all of our other projects, like Seekers of the Lost Worlds. His loss has an impact, which I will discuss in other posts soon.
I wrote this shortly after his passing on December 27th, 2023:
There are times people come into your life and you don’t expect the impact they will make on it.
How many times have you been to a convention or other public gathering and met people?
How many become like family to you?
When Rita and I met Scott and Debbie Viguie 11 years ago, we had no idea we were meeting kindred spirits. Friends for life. Family.
Scott became the brother I never had. We’d have countless conversations about all the geeky things we loved, plans for our own creations, life and so much more.
He was my closest friend. Someone I trusted implicitly and he was the kindest soul I ever had known.
You’ve heard the cliche “he’d give you the shirt off his back.” Scott literally would. That’s the kind of heart he had.
Scott was a husband, a brilliant mind. He was an archeologist. An entertainer. A teacher. An attorney. He had a doctorate, he was literally the Doctor. He loved everyone and would do anything for those he cared about.
He was a hero in ways no one will ever know. He was a Titan and we are all poorer for him not being here.
When I found out I was inconsolable. In shock. Tears didn’t stop for quite some time and they return often.
I honestly can’t believe I’m not going to be able to talk Doctor Who, Star Wars or mundane life stuff with him. Laugh with him. He had the greatest laugh.
My love and condolences to Debbie. Scott’s mother Greta and all the friends and family who love this man as Rita and I do. Please keep us all in your prayers.
There could be only one Scott Viguié. He was the most unique man I’ve ever known. His loss is immeasurable.
RIP My friend. My Brother. You were one of a kind. I will miss you always. We love you.
“Of my friend, I can only say this…of all the souls I’ve encountered in my travels. His was the most…human.”
