All this and more on TFA 101!
2015 Dragon Con coverage continues on the Needless Things Podcast! In this week’s episode, Phantom talks to Mike Gordon and Mike Faber of the Earth Station One Podcasting Network
A few years ago Mike and Mike invited Phantom onto the ESO Podcast to talk about the Doctor Who story “The Keeper of Traken”. You can listen to that here:
The next day the guys offered Phantom the co-host spot on a new Doctor Who podcast they were launching – Earth Station Who. While Needless Things had already been an entity for several years prior to this, being on ESW inspired Phantom to start his own show, the Needless Things Podcast.
In addition to that, the relationship with ESO opened the door for Phantom to become a part of Dragon Con – whether it was sitting on or hosting panels, creating game shows, or providing media coverage.
Listen now as Phantom, Mike Gordon, and Mike Faber talk about their history with Dragon Con and what 2015 has in store for the ESO Network and Needless Things!
Be sure to join the new Needless Things Podcast Facebook Group and get in on the conversation for this week’s episode! Let us know what you think!
Today’s musical selection comes from Dragon Con 2015 Guest Performers,
Frenchy and the Punk! Imagine Siouxsie Sioux and Dee Dee Ramone had a duo that was inspired
by Django Reinhardt, Edith Piaf, Toulouse Lautrec and Deepak Chopra, this is what it might sound like. Check out their newest album, Bonjour, Batfrog, available now from CDBaby.com
Today’s episode is sponsored by Underoos, The Underwear That’s Still Fun to Wear! Listen in to find out how you can win a pair in the size and style of your choice!
Twenty years ago this year, a little studio made a big impact with its first feature film. Mike, Mike, Alex Autrey, and John McCarthy discuss the works of PIXAR, a company that continues to reach for the sky to infinity and beyond. We also chat with the newest members of the ESO Network, Mandy and Erin of CasterQuest and introduce them to the Geek Seat! Plus, the Misbehavin’ Maidens Saber and Rouge stop by on their way to Dragon Con and the award-winning author Van Allen Plexico talks about his contribution to the new ESO anthology. And we pay tribute to two recently lost members of the Bat-Family, Lenny Robinson and Yvonne Craig.

We’re less than two weeks from our favorite geek event of the whole stupid year: DragonCon. So before we begin the long, treacherous journey from Chickentown to Atlanta (we got a great deal on a MTV LeRun skate-bike), here’s our DragonCon preview show! This year’s guest list includes some of our favorite actors (from Arrow,Flash, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and of course, Silver Spoons), comedy and music performers (including Paul and Storm, Molly Lewis, The Doubleclicks, and Mikey Mason), puppeteers (Carol “Big Bird” Spinney!), skeptics (The Amazing Randi returns!), and even a couple of guys from Monty Python and The Kids in the Hall! All our friends from the ESO Network will be there too, appearing on panels, podcasting, and ordering way too many buckets of rum at the Hyatt bar. (Speaking of panels, Kevin runs through his whole crazy panel schedule too. Yes, of course we’re doing a panel aboutThundarr the Barbarian. Did you really have to ask?) Also this week: Kornflake is back from Otis, Massachusetts (where dogs hate to swim, and everyone might be naked); Kevin is back from WeddingCon (where dogs wear Star Trek uniforms) and Connecticut ComiCONN (where we found ANOTHER Disco Boba Fett!); Kyle and Luke talk aboutHomestar Runner; and Pluto (arguably our favorite dwarf planet) is full of jive turkeys.
J. Patrick continues the preview of Dragon Con 2015 with DC Star Wars Track Director, Brandy Roatsey and Director of American Science Fiction and Fantasy Media, Kelley Harkins. It’s all about the Dragon Con Sci-Fi this week on TMBP.
